Disclosed are an iron (Fe)-manganese (Mn)-aluminum (Al)-carbon (C) alloy, and a method to manufacture the same. The iron (Fe)-manganese (Mn)-aluminum (Al)-carbon (C) alloy with a composition of Fe in a balance amount comprises 23-34 wt% of Mn, 8-9.5 wt% of Al, and 1.4-1.8 wt% of C; and is formed by melting the same components. The alloy is solution heat-treated at a temperature of 980-1200°C continuously, and is quenched continuously; thus a microstructure of the alloy becomes a perfect austenite phase. Also, a condense nanosized (Fe, Mn)_3AlC_x carbides (κ′-carbides) is formed in an austenite matrix by spinodal decomposition during the quenching process. As such, strength and ductility of the alloy are meaningfully improved. Moreover, after nitriding, a nitride layer having an aluminum nitirde (AlN) having mostly a face-center-cubic (FCC) structure and an iron nitride (Fe_4N) having a relatively small quantity of the face-center-cubic (FCC) structure is formed on the surface of the alloy. Accordingly, surface hardness and corrosion resistance are improved; thus usage efficiency and application efficiency of the alloy are further increased. |
