[Also in Division F4] A floodlight for use with a high intensity lamp, such as a tungsten-iodine lamp, consists of a body part 12 open at one end and closed at the other, a shield 80 mounted within the part 12 to define a chamber in which is mounted a lamp 60 and reflector 64, means defining an aperture in the chamber for the emission of light and means such as radial slits 30 in the base of the part 12 for ventilating the chamber. The lamp 60 and reflector 64 are carried by arms 76 passing through openings in the shield 80 and secured to the part 12. To provide coloured light, a cylindrical body 34 having ventilating slits 38 in the sides is mounted on the rim of the part 12 by means of three leaf springs 46 with hooked ends 48. The body 34 supports a colour filter 52. For this purpose, the inner ends 56 of the springs 46 are bent away from the surface of the part 32 so that a colour filter 52 can be engaged between the ends and a turned over rim 36 of the part 32, a separate tongue on each spring being bent inwards so that an infra-red filter 54 can be engaged between this and the filter 52. The floodlight can be mounted on a ball 22 carried by a socket in a sleeve, the opposite end of which forms a socket for a second ball mounted on a base. |
