The present invention relates to a novel fish pathogen, in particular a novel Tenacibaculum specie involved in the development of tenacibaculosis in farmed fish. More particularly, the present invention relates to a vaccine useful in providing protection against tenacibaculosis as well as the development of ulcers associated with Tenacibaculum infections in farmed fish. The present invention furthermore provides DNA sequences and oligonucleotide sequences useful in diagnostic assays etc.
