摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refractive index distribution type liquid crystal optical element capable of performing partial display by a single lens and an image display device.SOLUTION: The refractive index distribution type liquid crystal optical element includes a first substrate 101, a second substrate 102, a liquid crystal layer 107, a plurality of first electrodes 103, a plurality of second electrodes 104, and a third electrode 106. Each of the plurality of first electrodes 103 is formed on the side of the liquid crystal layer 107 on the first substrate 101 and extended along a first direction, each of the plurality of second electrodes 104 is formed on the first substrate 101 and extended along the first direction, and a plurality of third electrodes 106 are formed on the side of the liquid crystal layer 107 on the second substrate 102. A dielectric layer 108 electrically insulating the first electrode 103 and the second electrode 104 is formed, the third electrode 106 is formed so as to extend along a second direction, and a set of the first electrode 103 and the second electrode 104 is repeatedly arranged along the second direction.</p>
