<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device arranged to allow efficient extraction of light from a light-extracting face of a high refractive index substrate, and also to provide a method of manufacturing the light-emitting device. <P>SOLUTION: The light-emitting device is characterized by a supporting substrate provided with a light-emitting layer and a light transmissive layer formed on a light-extracting face of the supporting substrate, in which the light transmissive layer includes a plurality of protrusion structures made of a material having a refractive index lower than that of the supporting substrate and further has periodical distribution structures of refractive index both in an in-plane direction and in a thickness direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
