PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measuring system, capable of accurately measuring round-trip propagation time required for communication between a mobile station and a base station and a positioning system, capable of accurately determining the position of the mobile station, in accordance with the round-trip propagation time. SOLUTION: Upon receiving a command from the base station, the mobile station sends, in a different state, a signal to the effect that the mobile station has already been sent out.
