In a split-ring synchronizer for a ratio establishing positive clutch in a change speed gear wherein a split synchronizing ring 5 has an external conical surface 6 engageable with a corresponding surface 7 on an axially slidable selector sleeve 4 and internal cam surfaces 9 engageable with corresponding cam surfaces 9<SP>1</SP> on a ring 12 rotatably fast with a gear 2, the ring 12 is connected to the gear 2 by an Oldham coupling 15 which permits the ring 12 to centre itself within the synchronizing ring 5. The intermediate member 15 of the Oldham coupling may be moulded from plastics material. The synchronizing ring 5 and ring 12 may be made from sintered metals. |
