The dental treatment lamp comprises several illumination elements (2) adjoining each other with different wavelength spectrums of the radiated light, the illumination intensity of said elements being individually adjustable or adjustable in groups by adjusting means (7) in such a way, that the cones of light (5) thereof overlap to form a white light field (6) with a predetermined illumination intensity and color temperature. In a lighting mode, a color rendering index R_a of a whole spectrum (10) of the light field (6) is larger than 85. To prevent early hardening of a light-curable dental material during processing, the intensity in a treatment mode of a chosen wave length spectrum having the curing wave length ?_A,is 50 % of the maximum intensity of the whole spectrum (20) at the most. Said dental treatment lamp can be used in the illumination mode for color adaptation and in the treatment mode for treatment with a light-curable dental material. The invention also relates to a method for creating a light field for treatment with a light-curable dental material.
