PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To take a measure against the shortness of write time for a data signal when the number of pixels or a frame frequency increases due to an increase in size of a screen, in a driving method of performing dot inversion without any increase in power consumption of an IC. SOLUTION: Pixels are arranged zigzag to obtain the same effect on polarity inversion of the data signal with dot inversion at the same frequency with inversion by columns. The measure against the shortness of the write time for the data signal due to an increase in size of the screen is taken by performing preliminary writing when a scan line which is two lines before a scan line where the data signal is written is selected.
