PURPOSE: A route detecting method and a navigation system are provided to accurately search the optimal route by storing the travelling information obtained from the user experience and using the stored information for the route search requested. CONSTITUTION: The travelling information obtaining by a first navigation device is received and stored in a memory(400,410). The route search request is received from a second navigation device(420). The travelling information corresponding to the received route search request is retrieved from the travelling information stored in the memory(430). The retrieved travelling information is transmitted to the second navigation device(440). The section between the departure point and the destination of the first navigation device is divided into a plurality of intermediate sections. The travelling information comprises the travelling distance and the travelling time of the first navigation device for each intermediate section.
