The machine (1) has opening units (4) for opening two parallel furrows in ground, and unrolling units (7, 8) to unroll a tarpaulin between the two furrows from a tarpaulin roll (11) received in tarpaulin roll receiving units (12). Closing units (5, 6) close the furrows so as to maintain the tarpaulin on the ground, and adjusting units adjust the width of the tarpaulin roll receiving units. A central frame (9) comprises a receptacle (10) for the tarpaulin rolls.
