The present invention provides an image coding apparatus and an image decoding apparatus capable of enhancing the image quality of decoded image data. The image coding method according to the present invention is intended for coding an input image, and includes: coding the input image to generate a coded image; assigning each of areas in a picture included in the input image to a corresponding one of groups, and generating filter data for each of the groups; and outputting a coded stream including the coded image generated in the coding and the filter data generated in the generating. |
