PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately measure the outer diameters of even very-small-diameter lenses and accurately measure the outer diameters of even lenses that are mounted at an angle. SOLUTION: A lens outer-diameter measuring apparatus 1 for measuring the outer diameter of a lens W is provided with: a lens holder 7 for holding the lens W in contact with one optical surface of the lens W; a measuring part 5 comprising both a light source part 13 for irradiating light from a radial direction to the lens W held in the lens holder 7 and a light-receiving part 14 opposed to the light source part 13 on both sides of the lens W and capable of measuring the outer diameter of the lens W in a prescribed cross section without contact; an adjusting part 3 constituted in such a way as to adjust the inclination of the lens holder 7 to the light source part 13; a spindle 9 for rotating the lens holder 7 and the adjusting part 3 on its own axis; and a computation part 6 connected to the measuring part 5 for computing the outer diameter of the lens W on the basis of signals from the measuring part 5.
