An acetylenic alcohol compound or extract of Reniochalina sp. is provided to exhibit growth control activity effects on various cancer cell lines, and to be used as pharmaceutical compositions for prevention and treatment of cancer. An acetylenic alcohol compound or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof has a structure represented by chemical formula 1 or 2. In chemical formula 1, n is an integer of 20-30. In chemical formula 2, m is an integer of 0-3 and n is an integer of 0-3. The acetylenic alcohol compound is a (3R)-hydroxyoctatriacont-(4E)-en-1-yne compound or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof; or a (3R)-hydroxy-35-methylheptatriacont-(4E)-en-1-yne compound or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
