PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for separating carbon nanotubes according to diameters without the need of preliminarily forming density gradation in a solution when carbon nanotubes are separated according to diameters by centrifugal separation using a density gradient agent. SOLUTION: The method for separating carbon nanotubes according to diameters comprises subjecting the dispersion of carbon nanotubes to centrifugal separation treatment to separate the carbon nanotubes according to diameters, wherein carbon nanotubes are separated according to diameters by preparing a liquid by dispersing carbon nanotubes in an aqueous solution containing cesium chloride and a surfactant, uniformly inserting the liquid into a centrifugal tube, subjecting the liquid to the centrifugal separation treatment, and fractionating a liquid of a carbon nanotube band region thus formed. The cesium chloride is preferably prepared in concentration of about 30 to 50%. The surfactant is preferably sodium cholate, sodium deoxycholate, or the like. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
