A magnetic carrier for electrophotographic developers which consists of spherical magnetic composite particles prepared by binding ferromagnetic iron oxide particles with a phenol resin, characterized in that the ten-point mean roughness (Rz) of the surfaces of the spherical magnetic composite particles is 0.3 to 2.0µm. The magnetic carrier for electrophotographic developers exhibits excellent durability in terms of peeling of a resin coat and abrasion, is stable to mechanical stress applied thereto, and does not create spent toner. Thus, the magnetic carrier can be stably maintained over a long period without causing fog and density unevenness, and makes it possible to produce high-quality images with excellent gradation over a long period. |
