PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing tin oxide, capable of obtaining tin by easily reducing the tin oxide through reduction treatment in a lower temperature region relative to conventional reduction treatment using a coke oven, or the like.SOLUTION: A method for reducing tin oxide includes: a mixing step of mixing the tin oxide and magnesium hydride to obtain a mixture; and a heating step of heating the mixture up to 400°C or above to obtain tin. A heating temperature is preferably in the range of 570-750°C. Mg2Sn is produced through the reduction reaction of the tin oxide by the magnesium hydride, and Sn and MgO are further produced at the heating temperature. |
