The present invention relates to a method to reduce power consumption of a macro base station in a wireless communication system which includes: a step of transmitting a preamble through one or more small base stations installed in a service coverage in advance; and a step of transmitting a power off command to one or more small base stations after changing the small base station into a power on state when access request information of a terminal receiving the preamble is received through one or more small base stations.
