A disclosed system for reading a gauge using a portable terminal comprises: a gauge including a display part for displaying an indicator for visually showing a read value with respect to an object to be read, a glass plate installed to be able to protect the display part and check the read value, a protective cap for selectively opening and closing the glass plate, and a near field communication (NFC) chip for NFC; and a portable meterman terminal having an NFC reader part arranged for wireless communications with the NFC chip, and having a management application installed to receive and manage the read value of the gauge, wherein consumer information, which includes the address of a consumer having the gauge installed thereon to be used and a consumer number for identifying the consumer, is pre-stored in the NFC chip to transmit the consumer information to the portable meterman terminal if the wireless terminal connects to the NFC chip via wireless communications. Accordingly, an actually exhibited read value can be checked and acknowledged reading is completely blocked. Also, reading is facilitated by solving the existing inconvenience of having to manually input a number or the address of a consumer, and automatically checking the consumer number or the address of the consumer using NFC. |
