PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can prevent reduction in a lubricant amount on an image carrier and can suppress unnecessary consumption of a toner, and a control method of the image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 includes: a photoreceptor drum 211 on which a toner image is formed; an image forming unit 140 for depositing a toner with addition of a lubricant on the photoreceptor drum 211 to form a toner image and transferring the toner image formed on the photoreceptor drum 211 to a sheet S; a calculation unit (control unit 200) for calculating a temporal average of a coverage of the toner image transferred to the sheet S by the image forming unit 140 each time in two different time zones; and control unit 200 for controlling the image forming unit 140 to form toner images 240 to 246 of patterns for forced toner discharge on the photoreceptor drum 211 in accordance with the calculation results of the calculation unit. |
