PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical device that can suppress the drug elution or dropout during the drug delivery to the lesion site using drug-eluting baloon catheter or the like.SOLUTION: Provided are: a medical device having at least one layer of drug layer on the surface, and a coating layer on the outer surface of the drug layer, and in which the coating layer contains a polymer comprising hydroxyl group and having a number average molecular weight of 30000 to 200000 and in which a portion of hydroxyl groups in said polymer is converted to other functional group; a medical device in which said polymer is at least one selected from sodium carboxymethylcellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, methyl cellulose or hydroxyethyl cellulose, or is at least one selected from polyvinyl alcohol, ethylene-polyvinyl alcohol copolymer, polyvinyl alcohol-polyethylene copolymer or polyvinyl alcohol-acrylic acid-methyl methacrylate copolymer; and a medical device in which said drug layer is a hydrophilic drug, and is in particular paclitaxel. |
