PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead storage battery enhanced in durability, and arranged so that the drop in capacity can be prevented.SOLUTION: A lead storage battery for an idling stop vehicle comprises: a positive electrode plate comprising a positive electrode active material and a positive electrode grid; a negative electrode plate comprising a negative electrode active material and a negative electrode grid; a separator for separation between the positive and negative electrode plates; and a liquid electrolyte which the positive and negative electrode plates and the separator are immersed in and which has fluidity. The positive electrode active material has a density of 4.4-4.8 g/cm3 in its as-chemically-synthesized state, and contains 0.05-1.0 mass% of Sn in terms of metal Sn.
