Provided are: a linear motor able to efficiently impart a magnetic lift force and attitude control to a mobile element; and an apparatus mounted with the linear motor. The linear motor is provided with: an armature having two magnetic pole teeth that are opposing with a gap therebetween and a winding wire wound to the magnetic pole teeth; and a mobile element in which a plurality of permanent magnets having a polarity in the vertical direction are arrayed in the front-back direction. The linear motor is characterized in that the mobile element has, as the arrangement of the plurality of permanent magnets, a long pole section having a predetermined length in the front-back direction and a short pole section having a shorter length in the front-back direction than that of the long pole section, the mobile element has the long pole section at a flat section having a width in the left-right direction, and the long pole section moves relative to the armature in the front-back direction, and is able to move the gap in a reciprocating manner. |
