The invention relates to a method and an apparatus (1) for estimating an expected reception quality in an interval of time (∆t2) for car-to-X (C2X) communication, comprising a receiving device (2) for acquiring data packets (6, 9) and a memory (4), wherein the memory (4) stores at least one empirically determined variable for reception patterns (EM) of data packets (6) in a first interval of time (∆t1), which variable indicates or can be used to determine how high the probability (PS) is of a data packet (9) or n data packets (9) being successfully received in a subsequent, second interval of time (∆t2), wherein the apparatus (1) is designed in such a manner that the reception pattern (EM) is determined for a first interval of time (∆t1) before the interval of time (∆t2) and the associated probability (PS) for the interval of time (∆t2) is read from the memory (4), wherein a warning message is generated and/or a transmission parameter and/or a functionality of a driver assistance function is/are changed on the basis of the probability (PS). |
