PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology that can reduce the argon purge amount in the ethylene oxide production process.SOLUTION: The ethylene oxide production method comprises: a step of catalytically gas phase-oxidizing ethylene with molecular oxygen-containing gas in the presence of silver catalyst, feeding the produced ethylene oxide-containing reaction product gas to an ethylene oxide absorption column, feeding the column bottom liquid in the ethylene oxide absorption column to an ethylene oxide refining system, and refining the ethylene oxide; and a step of feeding at least a portion of the carbon dioxide gas-containing gas discharged from the column top of the ethylene oxide absorption column, to a carbon dioxide gas absorption column, extracting, as a column bottom liquid in the carbon dioxide gas absorption column, carbon dioxide gas rich absorption liquid and feeding to the top part of a carbon dioxide gas stripping column, and stripping carbon dioxide gas from the carbon dioxide rich absorption liquid and discharging, as effluent gas, from the column top of the carbon dioxide gas stripping column, and in which the concentration of molecular oxygen in said molecular oxygen-containing gas fed from the outside of the system into the inside of the system, is 99.7 volume% or more. |
