<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weight estimation apparatus capable of always estimating an appropriate weight of an article. <P>SOLUTION: A weight estimation apparatus 10 includes an x-ray irradiation part, a conveyance part, an x-ray detection part, a first storage area 21b, a second storage area 21c, an image generation part 22a, an irradiation quantity determination part 22c, a weight information storage area 21e, and a weight estimation part 22e. The first storage area 21b stores an x-ray detected by the x-ray detection part without being transmitted through an article. The second storage area 21c stores an x-ray detected by the x-ray detection part after being transmitted through the article. The image generation part 22a generates an article x-ray image corresponding to an x-ray transmitted through the article. The irradiation quantity determination part 22c specifies an x-ray irradiation quantity based on an irradiated x-ray. The weight information storage area 21e stores basic information concerned with weight correction corresponding to the x-ray irradiation quantity.
