According to the present invention, in the method for operating the internal combustion power machine system (10), the internal combustion power machine system (10) comprises: two or more internal combustion power machines (11, 12) which can form exhaust gas by combustion of fuel; and, an exhaust gas post-treatment system (13) which is common for the two or more internal combustion power machines (11, 12) and which can perform post-treatment to the exhaust gas of the internal combustion power machines (11, 12). Placed are blocking devices (14, 18) on the bottom flow of one or more from among the internal combustion power machines with the common exhaust gas post-treatment system (13) and the top flow of the common exhaust gas post-treatment system (13). The blocking devices are especially closed when one of the internal combustion power machines (11, 12) is stopped to prevent the exhaust gas from flowing backward in the direction toward each stopped internal combustion power machine (11, 12) from the other one or more internal combustion power machines (11, 12). One or more sensors (16, 19) determines the gas composition and/or gas temperature at the bottom flow of the one or more stopped internal combustion power machines (11, 12) and the top flow of each of the closed blocking devices (14, 18). It is checked if the exhaust gas flows backward in the direction toward each of the stopped internal combustion power machines (11, 12) even though the blocking devices (14, 18) are closed depending on the determination. |
