PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods of preparing (+)-1,4-dihydro-7-[(3S,4S)-3-methoxy-4-(methylamino)-1-pyrrolidinyl]-4-oxo-1-(2-thiazolyl)-1,8-naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid (SNS-595), pharmaceutical compositions comprising the same, and methods of treatment using such compositions.SOLUTION: This invention provides methods for preparing SNS-595, illustrated in Scheme 2, and using optically active pyrrole derivatives, pharmaceutical compositions comprising the same, and methods of treatment of cancer using such compositions.
