PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition comprising a ribosome protein extract (RPE) of a parasite and optionally a Thpromoting adjuvant, and to provide vaccines for treating or preventing parasite disease using the same.SOLUTION: The invention relates to vaccine compositions comprising a RPE and, optionally, a Th-promoting adjuvant and methods for treating or preventing a parasite disease using the same, where the RPE is obtained by the following steps: lysing cells of a parasite; centrifuging the lysed parasite cells twice or more to obtain a cytosol extract; centrifuging the cytosol extract at about 9,000 rpm for about 30 minutes at 4°C, to prepare a ribosome pellet; resuspending the ribosome pellet; and centrifuging the resuspended ribosome pellet through a discontinuous sucrose gradient.
