A holding pin is provided for a safety gate comprising a fixed frame, in the form of a y-spindle. The holding pin comprises a head 22 provided to bear against an external riser and a connecting portion 21 provided to extend between the fixed frame and head. The head has a bearing surface with left 22G and right (22D, Fig. 3) wings connected together at an end of the connecting portion, forming an angle (α, Fig. 3) less than 180°. The upper portion of said bearing surface has a contour (42, Fig. 4) defining a curve forming an arc or circle, ellipse, parabola or hyperbola. The wings may define an angle between 90° and 140°. The head may have a coating 23 of thermoplastic elastomer and may have a relief 24 for improving contact with the riser. The connecting portion may have a screw thread bearing a locknut. |
