PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a water-absorbing resin that even if produced using an acrylic acid having a high content of acrylic acid dimer, can reduce a residual monomer without deteriorating the productivity and without using a treatment agent.SOLUTION: The method for producing a polyacrylic acid (salt)-based water-absorbing resin includes a step of preparing a monomer aqueous solution from an acrylic acid having an acrylic acid dimer content of 150-2,000 ppm and a step of polymerizing the monomer aqueous solution. The production method further includes a step of neutralizing the acrylic acid with a basic compound in the step of preparing the monomer aqueous solution in which the maximum temperature in the neutralization step is 70°C or higher.
