IMAGE DISPLAY APPARATUS

This image display apparatus is provided with a display device, a parallax barrier, and a control unit. The display device displays left-eye images and right-eye images that exhibit parallax. Light based on the output of the display device is divided between a left-eye direction and a right-eye direction by the parallax barrier. The control unit controls the display device, varies the brightness of the displayed images and the amount of parallax between the left-eye images and right-eye images in a continuous manner, and switches between a mode in which images are presented to both eyes and a mode in which images are presented to only one eye.
