PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that a special tool is necessary for assembling and the connector can not be installed in a narrow place, though an optical fiber is cut and the optical connector is mounted on-site, in the conventional optical connector. SOLUTION: An optical connector is provided with an optical connector casing which has an insertion port to insert an optical fiber to be connected, a holding member which holds the optical fiber to be inserted into the insertion port of the optical connector casing at a prescribed position, a pressing member which presses the tip section of the optical fiber to be inserted to the holding member, a pressing spring which presses the pressing member in a holding member direction by repulsive force, and a button which reduces the repulsive force of the pressing spring when it is pressed and restores to an original position by the repulsive force of the spring when it is released.
