A controller for an electrical appliance, such as a room heater or a cooking appliance such as a fermenter, includes pins (7, Fig 3) to plug into a mains socket outlet, a socket 2 for the appliance to plug into, and means 3 to select a temperature. The device may have an internal temperature detector 11 or it may use an external sensor 6. The controller switches the appliance on and off in response to the detected temperature, and may also include a timer, a manual override, or an inverter function switch if it is to be used to control a cooler. |
