PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface sheet which is hardly twisted or wrinkled and is high in smoothness of the surface, and to provide an absorbent article provided with the surface sheet. SOLUTION: The surface sheet 2 for the absorbent article has a laminated structure in which at least a first fibrous layer 21 and a second fibrous layer 22 are partially joined by joining parts 23. The first fibrous layer 21 forms many raised parts 3 raised from the second fibrous layer 22 to the first fibrous layer 21 at parts other than the joining parts 23. In the vertical cross-sectional view, between the joining proximal end part 31 with the second fibrous layer 22 and a top part 32 in the raised part 3, an overhung part 33 overhung in a plane direction is formed so as to partially cover the joining part 23 in the plane view.
