PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display apparatus whose display size is compact having a simple structure, with low power consumption and a high response speed. SOLUTION: A first heating element 1, a second heating element 2 and a flow path control member 4 which is arranged between the first heating element 1 and the second heating element 2, are provided in a liquid room 31 formed on a translucent member 3. A display section in which liquid 6 is filled in a part of the liquid room is provided and air bubbles are generated in the liquid 6 by heating either of the heating elements and moving the liquid 6 to the other heating element side by pressure generated by the air bubbles, thereby shielding and transmitting of visible light 10 emitted from one face side of the translucent member is controlled.
