LIGHT GUIDE PLATE AND BACKLIGHT

A light guide plate formed by molding materials containing thermoplastic resin and having a light incident surface, light reflection surface and light outgoing surface, wherein a plurality of protrusions each having a bottom diameter of 1-50 mum (0.8-1964 mum<2> in terms of an average bottom area) and an average height of 0.5-30 mum, or recesses having an opening diameter of 1-50 mum (0.8-1964 mum<2> in terms of an average opening area) and an average depth of 0.5-30 mum are provided on the light outgoing surface, and a total of the bottom areas of the protrusions or the opening areas of the recesses accounts for 5-50% of the total area of the light outgoing surface; and a backlight comprising reflection sheets laminated on the light reflection surface of the light guide plate, and downward-directed prism sheets and light diffusion sheets laminated on the light outgoing surface. The light guide plate is high in luminance and can be suitably used for a backlight or the like.
