PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet printer which carries out high-definition image recording by positively keeping up with ink absorption and surely removing ink at a nozzle face and its vicinity. SOLUTION: The printer is provided with a recording head 5 with a plurality of nozzles 8 fitted thereat for discharging the ink, and an ink wiping device 12 for removing the ink sticking to the nozzle face 9 of the nozzles 8. The ink wiping device 12 is equipped with an ink absorber moving device 19 for moving an ink absorber 15, and a pressing member 23 for making a surface of the ink absorber 15 contact the nozzle face 9. The pressing member 23 is formed into an arc shape of a cross section by curving a sheet-like member, and at the same time has a plurality of slits 26 formed thereat. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
