PURPOSE:To obtain correct results of measurement, by fixing a support bracket on a cover mounting plate of a tape wheel for a metal tape tightening pulley to perform a measurement by pressing a measuring surface of a flaw detector supported on the support bracket floating on the surface of the metal tape. CONSTITUTION:In measurement, a horizontal shaft 19 is mounted at the upper end of a flaw detector 11 having a measuring surface 24 in which a permanent magnet 12 and a detection sensor 13 are arranged vertically in such a manner as to be parallel (Y axis) to the measuring surface with respect to a metal tape 9 running vertically (Z axis) likewise and a spring receiver 25 is provided below the shaft 19. A notch 17 is made to engage the mounting plate 16 of a cover of the tape wheel with a support bracket 15 and a flaw detector thus arranged is fixed with a clamp screw 18 being pressed with a plate spring 23. Under such a condition, the flaw detector 11 is supported floating with three degrees of freedom turning in the Z axis pushing the tape 9 and turning in the X and Y axes with respect to the surface of the tape 9. This enables the obtaining of correct results of measurement.
