PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a squirrel cage rotor of a polyphase induction motor which suppresses an influence of harmonic magnetic flux, thereby improving efficiency, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: The squirrel cage rotor of the polyphase induction motor comprises: a rotor core 62 which is formed by laminating electromagnetic steel plates 63, and has a plurality of slots 64 which axially penetrate the core; a pair of end rings 68 which are arranged to sandwich the rotor core 62 from the axial direction, and has a plurality of slots 69 which axially continue to the slots 64 of the rotor core 62; and a plurality of conductive bars 66 which penetrate the slots 64, 69 of the rotor core 62 and the end rings 68. The squirrel cage rotor of the polyphase induction motor has a joint part 90 which is formed by frictionally and stirringly bonding internal peripheral sides of end faces 66a of the conductive bars 66 in the rotor radial direction and the end rings 68, and a non-joint part 93 which is formed at the stator side of the joint part 90 at the end faces 66a of the conductive bars 66, and has a non-joint relationship with respect to the end rings 68.
