PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a trouble caused by the execution of the determination of a function of an air-fuel ratio detection device in a state that an air-fuel ratio is not learned.

SOLUTION: When an increase of engine power is requested before the determination of the function of the air-fuel sensor, the determination of the function of the air-fuel sensor can be performed more appropriately since the determination of the function of the air-fuel ratio sensor is executed accompanied by an increase and a decrease of the air-fuel ratio in a state that engine power is increased (S240-S280) if a learn history relating to the air fuel-ratio of a learned zone corresponding to an intake air quantity when power is increased is stored in a RAM (S230). A trouble caused by the execution of the determination of the function of the air-fuel ratio sensor in a state that the air-fuel ratio is not learned can be avoided since the determination of the function of the air-fuel ratio sensor is not executed without increasing engine power if the learn history relating to the air fuel-ratio of the learned zone corresponding to the intake air quantity when power is increased is not stored in the RAM (S230).
