THE METHOD AND APPARATUS OF RANGE MEASUREMENT IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method and an apparatus for range measurement in wireless communication system are provided by the embodiments of the present invention. The frame structure of the said wireless communication system comprises one or more downlink service time slot(s), the guard period from downlink to uplink and one or more uplink service time slot(s). The method includes: calculating the starting time of the first uplink service time slot of the said frame structure, and setting the starting time as the fiducial time; generating the range measurement signal; employing the fiducial time to subtract the sum of the time required for sending the range measurement signal and the reference delay, thereby obtaining the time when the terminal starts sending the range measurement signal; employing the fiducial time to subtract the length of a dedicated range measurement time slot, thereby obtaining the time when the base station starts receiving the range measurement signal; receiving and processing the said range measurement signal. The various interferences will be minimized and the optimal performance of range measurement will be achieved through the range measurement method and apparatus which are provided by the embodiments of the present invention.
