494,409. Centrifugal separators. MEER, G. T. June 10, 1938, No. 17280. Convention date, June 11, 1937. [Class 23] A centrifugal strainer-separator 1 is provided with a plate 7 which pushes the material towards the outlet, and is attached to the feed hopper 8. The wall of the hopper is inclined at such an angle that the entering material just slips along the wall under the action of centrifugal force and gravity. The hopper 8 is constructed so that the diameter of the opening at the feeding end 11 is less than two-thirds of the diameter at the other end 15. A cylinder 4 is formed in the hollow driving shaft 3 of the separator, and pressure oil is admitted to the cylinder under automatic control to cause the piston 5 and the plate 7 to move backwards and forwards during the rotation of the separator. Excess material supplied to the hopper overflows into the basin 14 with a discharge outlet 13. |
