An image display device, and an apparatus and a method for driving the same are provided to prevent the deterioration of image quality by compensating for data voltage charge characteristics due to RC delay and the variation of leakage current. An apparatus for driving an image display device includes an image display unit(10), a gate driver(20), first and second drivers(30,35), and a timing controller(40). The image display unit includes pixel cells at sections defined by gate and data lines. The gate driver supplies sequentially forward direction scan pulses to odd gate lines and backward direction scan pulses to even gate lines. The first and second drivers supply data voltages to odd and even data lines so as to synchronize with the forward and backward direction scan pulses, respectively. The timing controller controls the gate, and first and second data drivers, separates source data from outside into odd and even data, supplies the separated odd data to the first data driver, and supplies the separated even data to the second data driver. |
