The invention relates to a method for producing a polyacrylonitrile-sulfur composite material, comprising the step of: a) reacting sulfur with polyacrylonitrile with excess sulfur at a temperature of at least 300°C, in particular at least 550°C; the ratio between sulfur and polyacrylonitrile being selected according to the reaction temperature selected in step a).
