<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve prediction precision of a prediction vector candidate.SOLUTION: There is provided a moving image coding method in which, when a prediction vector candidate mvc' for a motion vector mv of a block to be processed is calculated by scaling a motion vector mvc (mvcx, mvcy) of a block adjacent to the block to be processed in terms of space or time, using picture information of a picture that can be referred to by the block to be processed and motion vector information containing the motion vector mvc of the adjacent block and a reference picture identifier indicating a picture referred to by the motion vector mvc, a scale coefficient includes N bits with precision of one or more digits to the right of the decimal point, and when N=8 bits, the prediction vector candidate is corrected in 0 direction using a predetermined formula and scaled, and a difference between the motion vector of the block to be processed and the scaled prediction vector candidate mvc' is calculated using the scaled prediction vector candidate mvc'.</p> |
