<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material and method for cleaning a contaminated ground, capable of cleaning the ground even if being a cohesive soil layer. <P>SOLUTION: The cleaning material of the contaminated ground is added to the cohesive soil layer of the contaminated ground that is contaminated by an organic chlorine compound to activate microorganisms for decomposing the organic chlorine compound, thereby cleaning the cohesive soil layer of the contaminated ground.
