PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat pump system capable of appropriately controlling the number of operating heat pumps even if any of the heat pumps is in the process of defrosting, and ensuring that heat pump system can always operate with a capacity corresponding to a load, and an operation method for the same.SOLUTION: A heat pump system 1 in which a plurality of heat pumps 10A to 10C (13A to 13D) is connected to a system load, comprises a system control unit 27 sequentially computing a capacity with which the operating heat pumps 10A to 10C (13A to 13D) can output power, comparing a calculated capacity value, acting as a threshold, with a thermal load of the system load, and controlling the number of the operating heat pumps 10A to 10C (13A to 13D). |
