Artificial fibre fabrics are smoothed mechanically before coming into contact with swelling agents of the concentration used for swelling cotton and linen, e.g. sulphuric acid of 45-55 DEG B</>ae or caustic soda of 15-32 DEG B</>ae.ALSO:Artificial fibre fabrics are smoothed mechanically before coming into contact with swelling agents of the concentration used for swelling cotton and linen and also prior to and subsequent to at least one stage of the desizing, and/or bleaching treatment. Suitable apparatus for the pretreatment comprises in combination a singeing device, a spreader, a cylinder press, open web washing machines with mangling attachment for desizing and bleaching, endless belt conveyers, rolling apparatus and widthwise stretching apparatus. |
