A composition for sizing textiles, particularly those having a basis of an organic derivative of cellulose such as cellulose acetate, comprises casein, a nitrogenous base, particularly an alkylolamine such as triethanolamine, and an organic ester of phosphoric acid, particularly triethyl phosphate. The composition is normally applied to yarns as a dispersion in water, preferred proportions of casein being between 75 and 85 per cent, of alkylolamine 15 to 20 per cent, and of ester phosphoric acid 3.5 to 6 per cent of the weight of the non-aqueous ingredients. |
